Music

Music is a huge part of my life, and I love to engage with it from all angles. I teach, I play, write about it, I write and record my own songs! For the past 3 years, I’ve been participating in She Shreds Media‘s annual 1-Riff-A-Day challenge and… just have never stopped! One of my favorite parts of every day is sharing my riff-a-day on instagram, and the wonderful community of musicians I’ve become friends with through the challenge. Speaking of community, some of the most meaningful musical moments I’ve experienced are teaching with local music education organizations like Girls Rock Camp Houston and Hope Stone Inc. As much joy as it brings me to make music myself, I find just as much in mentoring kids and helping them discover their own unique musical voices.

You can find my released music under the project name Denim Daisy on Bandcamp and Soundcloud.

Projects I’m Proud Of

Death by a Thousand Covers

A Taylor Swift charity cover comp organized by Heavenly Creature Records benefitting Refuweege, a Glasgow based community-led charity that aims to provide a warm welcome to forcibly displaced people arriving in Scotland. I performed a cover of Love Story, and it’s the first time I recorded cello by myself at home!

Riff for a Reason

In June 2020, instead of posting my daily riffs on social media, I recorded them into Garageband and released them as a pay-what-you-want album on Bandcamp. All the proceeds benefit Workshop Houston, which provides arts education and mentorship to students in Houston’s Third Ward.
